SHELLEY H. KOREN devotes her practice to serving middle-market businesses, oftentimes acting as general counsel to privately-held companies in the logistics, distribution, manufacturing, food and beverage, pharmaceutical, nutraceutical and other service industries. She is involved in all aspects of business planning for closely-held and middle-market businesses, including sales and supply-chain, business succession planning, financing and capital structures, acquisitions and exit strategies. 

Shelley emphasizes a business approach to the practice of law focusing on growth strategies, plans to attract and retain key management, designing organizational structures that minimize risk and allow flexibility for growth and serving as an ongoing resource to assist clients in making legal decisions that maximize the opportunity for long-term success. Shelley has successfully implemented a wide range of tax-advantaged capital structures, shareholder and family-ownership structures, and private-equity and venture-capital structures to enhance growth and to provide exit strategies.

Shelley has significant experience with U.S. distribution to big-box retailers as well as numerous specialty retailers. Her skills enable her to apply innovative, practical business solutions in a cost-efficient manner to a wide range of legal issues encountered by the middle-market business and in many cases the entrepreneurial owner.

Shelley's experience also includes numerous labor and employment issues. She has drafted and implemented harassment and discrimination policies and prevention programs, non-compete agreements and other restrictive covenants, drug testing policies and programs, and compliance obligations under the Americans with Disabilities Act, the Family and Medical Leave Act, the Workers' Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act, the Fair Labor Standards Act and other state, federal and local employment and labor laws.
