Thursday, April 2, 2015
3:30 - 6:30pm
The Conservation Center
400 N Wolcott Ave
Chicago, IL 60622

In connection with the Block Museum's current exhibition, Collecting Paradise: Buddhist Art of Kashmir and Its Legacies, this event will educate guests about aspects of collecting art. It will include a walk-through of The Conservation Center's new location with CEO Heather Becker, observation of conservators at work, and a light reception with time for discussion.

Richard Horwood, Block Circle member, art collector and estates attorney, will discuss issues in the life cycle of collecting art, from acquisition to care to estate planning, with Block Director Lisa Corrin.

The Conservation Center, one of the country's largest facilities devoted to repairing and restoring artworks, works with major museums and private collectors to care for works of art, from paintings to textiles, works on paper, sculpture, furniture, and more.

The Mary and Leigh Block Museum of Art is the fine arts museum of Northwestern University and Chicago's North Shore. It serves the academic and cultural needs of the University and community through:

  • Thought-provoking exhibitions
  • Rich and diverse permanent collection
  • Original scholarship
