The concepts of confidentiality and privilege arise for attorneys on a recurring basis. Ethical considerations, among others, are often part of the complex analysis that goes into a confidentiality and privilege evaluation. When, how and to whom do these obligations and protections attach are just a few of the primary questions you need to be able to answer. This session will focus on ethical issues and standards that tax practitioners need to know regarding the rules of confidentiality and privilege. An overview of rules and relevant case law, with interactive discussion about various scenarios and how to address them, will be covered in the session.
