Joshua M. Grenard

Josh partners with middle-market and closely held business on all aspects of planning including debt and specialty finance, equity financing, mergers and acquisitions and general corporate matters. Josh has significant experience working with clients in the financial services and banking industries and represents corporate borrowers and their lenders, vendors and other major stakeholders, advising them in all manners of distressed financial workouts, restructurings, reorganizations and bankruptcy proceedings. Josh is a member of HMB's Business & Finance and Bankruptcy, Reorganization & Creditors' Rights Groups.

Prior to joining HMB, Josh spent the first decade of his career at two of the world's largest law firms where he developed a proven track record for reliability and efficiency. He served as lead attorney in drafting and negotiating complex financial and restructuring transactions.

Josh's core work involves:

  • Advising senior-level management and boards of directors of corporate borrowers, as well as lender groups, financial institutions and private equity sponsors in the planning, negotiation, documentation and consummation of complex financial and legal transactions
  • Drafting and negotiating of all manner and complexity of purchase agreements, credit agreements, intercreditor agreements, guaranties, security and pledge agreements, asset and stock purchase agreements and all other ancillary loan documents on behalf of his banking and financial services clients, as well as middle-market borrowers

Josh has substantial experience with distressed financial situations and advises clients through difficult and complex workout and turnaround scenarios. He develops creative solutions to maximize recoveries and minimize institutional risk when dealing with complex collateral and deal structures.

Prior to attending law school, Josh served as an Active Duty Infantry Officer in the United States Army, where he served as the deputy commander for a 125-Soldier light infantry company conducting combat operations in Iraq from January 2004-March 2005, where he was awarded the Bronze Star Medal as a result of his combat actions and service. After completing his tour on Active Duty, Josh continued his service in the United States Army Reserve, where he spent another six years in uniform, ultimately serving as a Company Commander where he was nominated for the General Douglas McArthur Leadership Award.

Outside of work, Josh enjoys spending time with his fiancé and his beautiful daughter, as well as working with various charitable organizations to assist in the coordination and provision ofpro bonolegal services and VA claim assistance to military veterans.
