Professional Bio
JENNIFER A. ZIMMERMAN concentrates her practice in state and local tax planning and the resolution of state and local tax controversies for multi-state and multi-national corporations.
She advises Fortune 500 companies as well as mid-size and closely-held businesses on issues related to all types of state and local tax, including income tax, sales/use tax, franchise tax, public utility and fuel taxes, and unclaimed property.
Jennifer has represented clients in dozens of states on diverse income tax engagements such as nexus, business/nonbusiness income, apportionment, unitary business principle, combined reporting, federal change reporting and credits and deductions and various sales and use tax engagements such as nexus, exemptions, and inclusions and exclusions from the tax base.
Her clients rely on her for ability to work effectively with representatives of Department of Revenues and appreciate her for her understanding of their business operations and unique needs and her timely and thorough responses regarding their current and potential state and local tax issues.
Jennifer is a co-author of the CCH Guidebook of Illinois Taxes, and has been published in the Journal of Multistate Taxation and Incentives. Jennifer has spoken on state and local tax matters on behalf of the Council on State Taxation (COST), the Chicago Tax Club, Interstate Tax Corporation, National Business Institute, and Center for Professional Education (CPE). Jennifer has created and presented accredited state and local tax seminars throughout the country. In addition, Jennifer has developed and is a co-presenter of a thrice-yearly SALT Webinar update series.
She also advises not-for-profit organizations, trust administrators and high net worth individuals regarding the impact of state and local taxes.
