The next meeting of The Chicago Tax Club will be held on Monday, April 7, 2014, at the McDonald's Corporation Hamburger University in Oak Brook, Illinois. At this full day event, HMB's Jennifer Zimmerman will present "Basics of State Tax Credits and Incentives and their Changing Landscape." HMB's Breen Schiller will moderate the session.

State tax credits and incentives are inevitable because of state sovereignty and competition between the states to attract business and economic development. While there is much debate as to what level credits and incentives should be scrutinized, state tax credits and incentives can provide substantial benefits to companies, including but not limited to, companies that want to relocate or expand their operations. This presentation will focus on the basic types of state credits and incentives, the administration of credits and incentives programs, and the administrative, legislative, or judicial risks associated with credits and incentives programs.
